Photon counting" technology is the most advanced system in imaging and works on the basis that instead of converting x-rays into visible light and illuminating the pixels (which causes light scattering), x-rays fall directly on the pixels and generate signals in the pixels individually and according to the intensity of the beam. Thus, without scattering and attenuation of the beams, an accurate image can be obtained with minimal radiation.
